What is a fanlisting?

"A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are), they are just a place where you can sign up with other fans." - thefanlistings.org

This particular fanlisting is for Emma - the novel by Jane Austen. It is listed under the Literature category over at TFL.org.

Emma was first published in 1815. The heroine of the story is Emma Woodhouse, a beautiful and witty young woman who differs from Austen's other heroines as she is rich with no inclination or pressure to marry. So instead, she spends her time matchmaking those around her in her small town. Austen said herself about Emma: "I am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like." Of course, it didn't quite work out like that, and Emma remains a very popular novel to this day.

The novel has been adapted into various TV, film and stage versions. Clueless (1995) is a modern adaption, while there are a few other film and TV versions straight from the source material. The most recent one was a BBC mini-series in 2009 starring Romola Garai as Emma.
